Guides, FAQ & Installation Know-How

Practical engineering support to help you select, install and maintain the right flow instruments.

Selection Guide

How to Choose the Right Flowmeter

Four steps from fluid definition to order confirmation.

01

Define the fluid

Identify the medium: liquid, gas or steam. Check conductivity (for electromagnetic), viscosity, temperature, pressure and whether the fluid is clean or contains solids.

02

Determine pipe & flow data

Record pipe size and material, expected minimum / normal / maximum flow rates, and available straight pipe length upstream and downstream.

03

Choose the technology

Match the medium to the meter family: conductive liquids → electromagnetic; clean liquids, high accuracy → turbine; steam & gas → vortex; large lines, no shutdown → ultrasonic; multi-channel logging → paperless recorder.

04

Select options & confirm

Add required options (explosion-proof, corrosion-resistant lining, compensation, remote mounting), then send your working conditions to our engineers for a free selection and quotation.

Installation

Flowmeter Installation Notes

General best practices — always follow the product manual for your specific model.

Straight pipe requirements

Keep the recommended straight pipe lengths upstream and downstream of the meter (typically 5D upstream / 3D downstream, more for special fittings). See the product manual for exact values.

Keep the pipe full

Install the meter in a section that always remains full of fluid — a rising pipe is preferred. Avoid installation at the highest point of the line where air can accumulate.

Grounding

For electromagnetic flowmeters, ensure the meter body, flanges and fluid are correctly grounded to the same potential as the piping to prevent electrical noise interference.

Orientation

The meter axis can be horizontal or vertical, but the flow direction arrow must match the actual flow direction. For horizontal installation, keep the electrode axis horizontal for electromagnetic types.

Avoid vibration & bubbles

Mount the meter away from pumps, control valves and other vibration sources. For ultrasonic types, the fluid must be free of significant air bubbles and solids.

Pre-commissioning check

Before start-up, verify the meter tag, range settings and units against the order. Confirm pressure and temperature do not exceed the meter rating, and slowly fill the line to avoid water hammer.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I choose between electromagnetic and ultrasonic flowmeters?

If the liquid is conductive (≥ 5 µS/cm) and the pipe can be cut, the electromagnetic flowmeter is generally the most economical and reliable choice for water, wastewater and chemical liquids. Choose the clamp-on ultrasonic when the pipe cannot be cut, the line is large, or the fluid must not be disturbed.

Can the vortex flowmeter measure steam mass flow?

Yes. With the optional integrated temperature and pressure compensation, the vortex flowmeter calculates steam mass flow directly. This is a common configuration for boiler energy accounting.

What explosion-proof options are available?

Electromagnetic, turbine, vortex and ultrasonic flowmeters are available in Ex d (flameproof) and Ex ia (intrinsic safety) versions for hazardous areas. Please provide your zone classification and gas group when requesting a quotation.

What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?

We support both standard purchases and OEM/ODM projects. Standard models are available in small quantities for testing and evaluation; custom-branded OEM orders are welcomed at flexible quantities depending on the configuration.

Do you support OEM/ODM with our own brand and specifications?

Yes. We offer OEM (your logo, packaging and model designation on standard products) and ODM (customization of specifications, software and appearance) services. Our engineers will review your requirements and provide samples for confirmation.

What is the typical lead time?

Standard products typically ship within 15–25 working days after order confirmation, depending on size and options. OEM/ODM projects require additional development time; we will confirm the schedule in the quotation.

Do you provide after-sales technical support?

Yes. Our support team provides installation guidance, commissioning support, troubleshooting and remote assistance. Each shipment includes user manuals, and calibration certificates are available on request.

What is your warranty policy?

Standard warranty is 12 months from the date of shipment. Warranty covers manufacturing defects and material faults; damages caused by improper installation or misuse are excluded. Extended warranty is available on request.
